FAQ Series: Other than Protonated and Deprotonated Molecules, Can We See Different Precursor Ions Formed by this Solvent-Free APCI?

It is pretty rare to see an adduct formation with the desorption phenomenon.

In some applications, it is possible to detect an ammonia-adduct formation, such as with immunosuppressant drugs. To promote adduct formation, we also offer an add-on Infusion Kit option that can be added directly to the Luxon Ion Source®.

There is also a very special case of a superoxide formation in negative mode. This is very specific to certain molecular forms, and since it can be quantitative, it increases the specificity of the method. Examples of that are during the analysis of OH-Vitamin D , 25-Hydroxycholecalciferol, Estradiol, Testosterone and N-Dodecyl-acetamide.
